What You Need For Your Agility Class

The following are tried and true recommendations. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

For Your Dog

Collar/Harness

Your dog should be wearing a flat collar. They may wear a harness, but will need to remove it during their run. A leash that is maximum 6 feet. Flexi leashes are not allowed on the property for safety reasons.

Crate or XPen

Crate or exercise pen: To safely contain your dog between their turns.

Favourite Toy

Preferably a toy that is interactive with you. A tug toy, a rope or a fluffy toy. A ball or frisbee can be used, but only for specific exercises. It's important that toys are used as rewards and the ones you interact with help create a stronger bond. I recommend that you have a toy that is only used for agility practice and training.

Water and Bowl

It's important to keep your dog hydrated. Be sure to bring fresh water and a bowl.

High Value Treats

Soft treats that are high value such as hot dogs, cheese string, chicken or beef. Store bought treats that are chewy, not hard or dry - the stinkier the better. You know your dog best! Bring lots and lots of their favourite treats

Poop Bags

Be prepared to clean up after your dog inside and outside the training area.

For You

  • Comfortable, grippy athletic footwear. You will be running, so shoes with good traction are important. Choose footwear that provides good support, as you'll be running and making quick movements.

  • Comfortable clothing: Dress for the weather and for being active. Dress in layers as you will likely heat up while training.  Choose athleisure or workout gear that allows for easy movement. This could include leggings, athletic shorts, or comfortable pants.Water: Stay hydrated throughout the session. Breathable and weather-appropriate. Opt for moisture-wicking fabrics in warm weather and layers, like thermal base layers and fleece, for cold weather. Waterproof and windproof outer layers are essential for wet conditions.

  • Treat bag: To hold and access your dog's treats easily. Or, make sure you have pockets for your treats.

  • Water: Stay hydrated throughout the session.

  • Chair: A chair for yourself can be helpful for waiting between turns.
